Mother Ivey Cottage is located on the North Coast of Cornwall between Padstow and Newquay overlooking Mother Ivey Bay and Trevose Head. The cliff top is in the garden and only 25 yards from the front door, below are two sandy beaches.

Nearby are well known surfing beaches:

Trevose Golf and Country Club is within walking distance. Facilities include golf, tennis, swimming, restaurant and bar.

Other activities in the area include coastal walks, fishing, cycling and surfing. Surfing lessons and boat fishing trips are also available. Visits to the new Lifeboat Station, which can be seen from the East Wing, are welcomed by the RNLI. Other attractions include the Eden Project, Cornish Maritime Museum, National Trust Properties and Cornish Gardens.

There are many restaurants locally and five miles away is Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant of international fame.
